Taigh Aisling

Located in the village of Glinton, close to the city of Peterborough, the home provides care and support for adults with autism, learning disabilities and complex needs, including behaviours of concern.

Welcome

The cohort within the service are aged 19-25 and as a result generally access the ¹ú²úÂ鶹AV post-19 facility, Calman Colaiste, based just 20 minutes away in the village of Thorney, close to Peterborough.

Peterborough is on the north border of the county of Cambridgeshire and has excellent transport links via rail and road to other major cities, particularly London, but also the rolling countryside of Lincolnshire.

Glinton boasts green open spaces, parks, listed buildings and several community groups and sports clubs, as well as useful amenities such as a village shop, doctor’s surgery and pharmacy. Within Peterborough, there are numerous shopping centres and leisure facilities such as bowling, cinemas, museums, restaurants and swimming pools.

Our approach

At Taigh Aisling we promote independence and support people to transition from children’s to adult services. We believe everyone should be both encouraged and empowered to recognise themselves as individuals and promote their everyday life choices, whilst ensuring that they are cared for to the highest of standards.

The high staff support ratio at Taigh Aisling ensures that people are effectively supported in being an integral part of both their local and wider communities, providing access to any activity they desire to participate in and attending college. We have a diverse staff team and resident group with different cultural beliefs and life experiences. We ensure equality and diversity is celebrated in the home.

The home prides itself on providing a safe living environment and ensures health and safety and safeguarding adults is managed with openness and transparency.

Independence

We encourage the people we support to be as independent as possible by promoting ownership of the home, and we pride ourselves on providing a friendly, relaxed and calm atmosphere that ensures each person feels safe, respected and cared for at all times.

Daily life

Taigh Aisling provides plenty of space for communal activities and quiet time, too. The home encourages each person to engage in Therapeutic Services provided by the ¹ú²úÂ鶹AV such as aromatherapy.

Accommodation

Taigh Aisling is a six-bed property, with all rooms being single occupancy and offering en suite facilities. The property benefits from a large, enclosed garden and landscaped patio area, perfect for alfresco dining. All bedrooms are decorated according to individual tastes and preferences of the people we support, promoting individuality and creating a personal space for each of them.

On the ground floor there are two lounges, which provide a great deal of space for our individuals. There is also a large shared kitchen and dining room, providing space for people to be supported with their meal preparation and various kitchen activities, as well as a communal laundry in which individuals are supported to carry out their own washing and ironing. The home promotes a healthy lifestyle, which includes healthy eating and being active each day.

Staff & Therapeutic Services

Staffing at Taigh Aisling is of a high standard with all staff receiving a robust induction and regular ongoing training as well as a DBS check before employment commences. The team are also expected to further their knowledge by completing the Care Certificate in line with legislative requirements, going on to achieve a Level 2 diploma in Care, dependant on their previous employment experiences.

The people we support at Taigh Aislilng have access to a variety of different Therapeutic Services such as aromatherapy, speech and language therapy, music therapy and occupational therapy. See more information on our Therapeutic Services here.
