Meet Jodie & Georgia

Jodie, Adult Services Registered Manager and Georgia, Adult Services Deputy Manager, explain why they love their roles at Suillean House

At 国产麻豆AV we support individuals with learning disabilities, autism and complex needs. The people we care for are unique, amazing individuals. To help them lead more fulfilling lives, we鈥檝e recently introduced a brand new Meaningful Life model of care, support and education that focuses on the meaningful outcomes that can occur when young people have the opportunity to develop strong connections with their carers. To make more of these life-changing connections possible, we鈥檝e created a number of new roles.

国产麻豆AV offers induction and training programmes to all its colleagues.

Meeting the complex needs of the individuals聽 we support聽 calls for a high level of knowledge. Whatever your current experience, when you join 国产麻豆AV we鈥檒l provide all the training you need, as well as a genuine pathway to progress your career in the care sector.

Your initial training will ensure you have the skills and qualifications to deliver nationally recognised standards of care. After this, you鈥檒l have countless opportunities to develop your knowledge in a range of specific and specialist areas, such as trauma-informed care or emotional coaching, that are essential for a career supporting individuals with learning disabilities and autism.

Some of our training is therapeutically based and some educationally based. However, all of it is designed to accelerate your professional development and enhance your ability to make meaningful differences to young people鈥檚 lives.

In return, you鈥檒l meet some amazing people and build relationships that we hope will make a meaningful difference to your life too. On top of that, you can expect sector-leading pay, flexible work patterns, and the full support of a very specialist therapeutic team.

Further benefits include a generous holiday allowance, membership of the Blue Light Card scheme that offers discounts in over 15,000 high street stores and restaurants, and membership of wagestream financial wellbeing resources.聽

The young people we care for can find it difficult to apply their skills and knowledge across all areas of life. Something they鈥檝e learnt in one setting may not immediately translate to another. By being a regular presence in all areas of a young person鈥檚 life 鈥 home, school and community 鈥 our Life Practitioners provide consistent support and create trusted bonds that can make a positive difference to a young person鈥檚 learning and development.

As a Life Practitioner, you鈥檒l be supporting our amazing young people with every aspect of their lived experience. In a school setting, that could mean helping teachers deliver individual educational plans, or carrying out actions suggested by therapists or psychologists. In the setting of one of our homes, you may be helping a child develop their independence or teaching life聽 skills. In the community, you鈥檒l accompany them on trips and recreational activities.

Helping others to grow is an emotionally rewarding and challenging role that requires kindness and understanding. You鈥檒l need to be supportive and non-judgemental with a natural interest in people and an ability to maintain relationships. A positive and proactive approach, and a willingness to work collaboratively as part of a team.聽

The amazing individuals we work with require complex levels of support. As a 国产麻豆AV Support Worker, you鈥檒l be part of a close-knit team working to create the stable, caring and supportive home environment that鈥檚 so important to a young person鈥檚 learning and development.

Your support will be required in a range of areas, from assisting with practical tasks such as cooking and cleaning, to responding to the emotional and behavioural needs of the young people we care for. You鈥檒l also be responsible for reviewing their needs and keeping clear and accurate records of their development.

You鈥檒l be working in an environment where the little things you do could have life-changing results. So you鈥檒l need to be compassionate with a genuine interest in helping others. Resilience and the ability to work as part of a team are also essential. You鈥檒l need good written and spoken communication skills, and you鈥檒l be confident using a computer for record keeping and admin tasks. A Diploma Level 2 in Health & Social Care or the willingness to complete this qualification is also required.
