Welcome
Murach House, means ’house in the downs’. The town straddles chalk downland (Epsom Downs) and the upper Thanet Formation. Epsom Downs Racecourse holds The Derby, and the town also gives its name to Epsom Salts, extracted from mineral waters there.
Epsom is the source of the Hogsmill River and includes the semi-rural Horton and Langley Vale, which is fantastic for walkers, and owing partly to its position and transport infrastructure in the London commuter belt allows easy access to Greater London and the rolling Surrey countryside.
Our approach
¹ú²úÂ鶹AV’s key aim is to deliver Positive Behaviour Support by way of understanding behaviours that concern or challenge families, staff and services. This is achieved by understanding the message that a behaviour presents, enabling us in the recognised adjustment of the environment, our responses to the behaviour and by teaching new skills to give people better ways to access the things they need.
Positive Behaviour Support drives our culture and ethos, supporting people proactively to meet their needs and promoting individual person centred care. We believe that each person has the right to achieve and we look to provide the people we support with a platform to engage in meaningful activities and lifestyle choices to enhance their quality of life and wellbeing.
The staff support ratio at Murach House ensures that people are effectively supported in being an integral part of both their local and wider communities, and also with providing opportunities to access activities of their choice.
Independence
At Murach House we believe that all of our individuals have the right to live a full life, and support each person in achieving their potential. We believe everyone should be both encouraged and empowered to recognise themselves as individuals and promote their everyday life choices, whilst ensuring that they are fully supported to do so.
Daily life
We have a range of both indoor and outdoor person-centred activities available, and plenty of space and quiet areas for people to relax. We encourage each person to be as independent as possible by promoting ownership of the home and we pride ourselves on providing a friendly, supportive and calm environment that ensures our individuals feel safe, respected and supported.
Epsom is also home to the Ebbisham Centre, which is a community service-based development and includes a doctor’s surgery, Epsom Library, a cafe and a health and fitness centre. The people we support can also access The Derby Square, which includes a number of franchise chain and independent restaurant/bars. Locals can also enjoy the Epsom Playhouse theatre, and other facilities include a leisure centre (the Rainbow Centre) on East Street, the famous and scenic Epsom Downs Racecourse, a multiplex Odeon cinema, Horton Park Farm and the Ashley Centre, a local shopping mall.
